Are All Treadmill Desks Expensive?
I won’t argue with you, treadmill desks can get expensive. On the flip side, it’s not super easy to made a good standing desk. It requires time and effort to build and, of course, the cost of materials.
Sure, you can strap a shelf to a standard treadmill or use something like the SurfShelf, but it’s probably not going to be the proper height, it won’t be large enough to really work on and will end up being uncomfortable to get work done. In the end, you probably won’t be very motivated to work at your treadmill desk. And that’s the whole point!
A Different Treadmill Desk… That’s Cheaper
The Go Treadmill Desk is a great find – I found it on sale for $299 at 40% off! This is way less than other comparable models that essentially do the same thing.
The “Go” is an adjustable, sturdy stand-up desk that also provides a large comfortable desktop area that measures about 4 feet wide by 2 feet deep. It’s simple and easy to use, so it makes you want to use it – the whole point, right?
How the Go Treadmill Saves Us Money:
1. It’s designed to work with a treadmill you already have, or you can buy one to fit under it. In any case, you are not limited to a certain type of walking treadmill, so you can save money by getting a cheaper one, buying something used or using your own.
I personally like the Exerpeutic, but other top-rated machines include the Weslo Cadence and the Sunny Health & Fitness Treadmill, and you can get all of these for under $500.
2. The Go Treadmill Desk also proves to be great option if you want to walk-and-work on your treadmill but also use it for running without the workstation. It essentially lets us get more use out of the treadmill without having to spend more money on exercise equipment.
The desk comes with a pair of wheels. Hence, you can easily roll it away when not in use (why don’t other desks have this?). The entire unit weighs just over 40 lbs (very lightweight compared to other versions, even though it has an extremely sturdy construction).
Note: The width between the table legs measures 38.6 inches. Therefore, keep that in mind as you are shopping for treadmills (most should fit just fine).
Get More for Your $ with Versatile Workspace and Height
The strong steel frame, along with the spacious desktop, can fit multiple computers and other gadgets (up to 60 lbs worth). Plus, you still have room to work. This unit allows us to complete a variety of different work activities without having to stop what we’re doing and adjust the workspace. We can always have everything we need right in front of us.
In my opinion, a standing workstation has to have adjustable height. Just as you would adjust your chair height at a desk to achieve optimal sitting alignment, we need to align our desk level to our standing/walking height to support good posture to prevent unnecessary back and neck strain.
The Go Treadmill Desk can comfortably fit users from a height of 5’0″ to 6’6″. This not only lets you find the best desktop level for you, but it also means that you can adjust the unit to fit different users (if you plan to share your desk).
